Traveling With Pets

​ If you plan to travel with a pet you’ll have to contact EGYPTAIR’s reservation department and inform us about your request.
The following EGYPTAIR’s pet policy information will provide the answers to many common questions regarding the transportation of pets

EGYPTAIR accepts live animals for carriage according to the following conditions:​

  • Dogs, cats when properly prepared and accompanied by a valid health vaccination certificate.
  • Cats and dogs must be at least 8 weeks old to travel.
  • Acceptance is subject to the condition that the passenger assumes full responsibility for such pet.
  • EGYPTAIR shall not be liable for the injury to or loss, delay, sickness or death of such pets or in the event that it is refused entry into or passage through any country state or territory
  • Pets remain subject to custom regulations at the country of transit and destination.
    Note: Live animals are not allowed For carriage as checked baggage or as pet in cabin to some countries such as the United Kingdom, South Africa, kingdom of Bahrain, United Arab Emirates,Republic of Yemen, New Zealand & Australia and should accepted only as cargo.

  • Passengers should carry sufficient food for his pets for the journey and during transit time.
    N.B: To all passengers travel to Bahrain; kindly note that all live animals should be accepted as cargo except: Emotional support animals and service animal can be carried in aircraft cabin. If the import permit certificate which issued by quarantine section (ministry of municipality affairs and agriculture in BAH) stamped by (authorized to receive at BAH international airport).

Live animals are not included in the free allowance &are charged as follows:

  • Up to 23 kg will be charged at 100% of the applicable rate for one piece of excess baggage Except: to/from Canada/ USA it will be charged at 150% of the rate for one piece of excess baggage .
  • Weight more than 23kg & up to 32kg will be charged at 150% of the applicable rate for one piece of excess baggage Except: to/from Canada/ USA it will be charged at 200% of the rate for one piece of excess baggage .
  • Weight more than 32 kg & up to 45 kg will be charged at 200% of the applicable rate for one piece of excess baggage except to/from Canada/USA, it will be charged at 300% of the rate of one piece of excess baggage.
  • Acceptance of pets more than 32 kg is subject to departing/ arrival airports regulations if such weights are accepted. To / From / Via (Spain / Tunis / Tanzania) are accepting maximum of 32 kg.
  • Rates apply per direction.

Egyptair accepts live animals as checked baggage or in the cabin as follows:

  • Cats &dogs are only permitted.
  • The total weight of animal and cage not exceed 8 KG.
  • Cage maximum dimensions does not exceed 55+40+20 cm.
  • Pet in cabin is limited to one animal per cage, one cage per passenger.
  • Pet in cabin will be accepted on first come first served basis as the acceptance is restricted by two animals per class and any additional pet will be accepted as checked baggage.
  • Falcons can be accepted according to EGYPAIR regulations, for more information please contact nearest EGYPTAIR office or call center.

  • The maximum permitted weight of live animal and cage as checked baggage is 45kg. Incase Live animal exceeds 45KG, it must be shipped as cargo.
  • The live animal will not be accepted up to the final destination as checked baggage if no reservation has been made for the connecting flight of another carrier.
  • Pets will not be accepted as checked baggage on Embraer E170 aircrafts.
N.B: To all passengers traveling with pets via Frankfurt airport with connection over 3 hours,Kindly be advised that an extra charge of EUR300 is applicable.

  • Service animals (Seeing eye dogs, hearing aid dogs, etc….) (Emotional support animals are considered to be service animals) are carried free of charge subject to aircraft type (for more information, please contact your nearest Egyptair Office), a customer traveling with an emotional support animal will need to have:
  • Documentation on letterhead from a licensed mental health professional, dated within the past 12 months, stating that the customer is under professional care for a mental-health-related disability, and that the animal’s assistance is essential to his or her mental health.
  • Such animals should be accompanied with valid health and vaccination certificates/entry permit.
  • Moisture absorbent mat may be placed on the cabin floor, underneath the dog at all times supply for the mats is to be arranged by the passenger.
  • Escort dog in cabin is exempted from any weight limitation and container requirements.
NB: The above mentioned notes only apply for EGYPTAIR operated flights. If you have a connecting flight on a different airline, please refer to its live animals regulations. NB:The above mentioned rules are applied only for flights operated by Egyptair and incase of Code-Share flights operated by other carrier please refer to Egyptair call center or the nearest Egyptair Sales offices.

  • Emotional support animals are considered to be service animals and will be carried free of charge, subject to prior arrangement made with Egyptair
  • Are exempted from any weight limitation and container requirements, unless the animal is too big to fit in the passenger cabin, then it must be accepted as AVIH, or else the customer will be offloaded.
  • Emotional Support animals can be accepted in the cabin subject to the following conditions:
    1. Documentation on letterhead from a licensed mental health professional, dated within the past 12 months, stating that the customer is under professional care for a mental-health related disability, and that the animal’s assistance is essential to his or her mental health.
    2. Have a fleece or vet-bed for the dog to lie on and also absorbent pads which can be placed under the fleece
    3. Dog must be obedient and behave properly in public places
    4. Animals must be leashed or harnessed.
    5. A certified proof that the animal is a service animal (certificate, license…)
    6. A certificate of vaccinations.
    7. For interline travel airline regulation apply.
    8. In case of animals being disruptive, it must be caged and accepted in the aircraft hold.
