Captain Ahmed Adel

EGYPTAIR Holding Company

On February 23rd, 2025, Captain Ahmed Adel was appointed for the second time as Chairman & CEO of EGYPTAIR Holding Company, leading a group of eight subsidiaries that provide a diversified range of services and capabilities. His first appointment was from June 2018 till March 2020. 

Focusing on the future transformation plan of EGYPTAIR, Captain Adel is determined to retain EGYPTAIR position with an eye on safety, fleet and network expansion, digital developments, sustainability as well as the enhancement of products and services with a unique Egyptian essence. He is also keen on the development of the human factor within EGYPTAIR to have motivated high skill teams.

Since joining EGYPTAIR as a pilot in 1988, Captain Ahmed Adel has held a number of administrative and technical positions within EGYPTAIR, contributing to its major turnover and enhancing its corporate strategy. 

Adel has been an Instructor Pilot and an Examiner on the Airbus A330 and A340 since 2007 and an ECAA Certified Inspector in October 2012. Appointed as General Manager Flight Training in 2009, he supervised the development and innovation of all flight crew members training activities.

In 2010, Adel was assigned as Deputy Vice President Operations, to be promoted in early 2013 as Vice Chairman EGYPTAIR Express, playing a key role in leading the Regional & Domestic Carrier. In June 2013, he became Vice President Flight Operations, supervising and managing all flight operations as well as safety and security of inflight operations.

Captain Adel was appointed as Vice Chairman of EGYPTAIR Holding Company in 2013, overseeing several high strategic committees and adopting quality improvement in all Group subsidiaries. In addition, he liaised with the Egyptian Airports to enhance the quality of services. Moreover, Adel has played an important and vital role in EGYPTAIR’s expansion and modernization plan. 

In June 2019, Captain Ahmed Adel was nominated as a member in IATA Board of Governors, then elected as a member in IATA Chair Committee in July 2019. From 2018 till 2020, Adel was a member of the Executive Committees of both the Arab Air Carriers Organization (AACO) and the African Airlines Association (AFRAA) as well as a member of the Star Alliance Chief Executive Board (CEB).
