Young travelers

​​​ Traveling alone can be an exciting, adventurous experience for a young person. EGYPTAIR is glad to offer guidance and assistance. It's our goal to provide safe, reliable and comfortable travel for all of our travelers, especially for young ones.
Children travelling alone - without the supervision of a sibling of 16 years or older or a parent or guardian- are classified as unaccompanied minors. This includes children travelling in a different class or cabin to the sibling, parent or guardian.

Booking:

Unaccompanied minors and young travelers  must hold a proof of age
It is mandatory to make prior confirmed reservation.
To book travel for an unaccompanied minor, please contact your local EGYPTAIR office, you will need to complete our 'Unaccompanied Minor - UM' form before check-in. This form is available from your local EGYPTAIR Office or your travel agent. 

When flight for unaccompanied minors is booked online, you need to contact EGYPTAIR office in order to complete the required UM forms.

Acceptance and applicable fares:

Minors under 2:

Unaccompanied minors under 2 years will not be accepted for carriage.

Minors over 2 and under 6 years old:

Unaccompanied minors over 2 and less than 6 years will be accepted for carriage provided:

  • An EGYPTAIR unaccompanied minor form must be completed and duly signed by guardian and/or parent(s).
  • An authorized guardian must deliver the child at the airport of departure.
  • Upon arrival, the parents/guardians mentioned in the unaccompanied minors form must meet the child at the airport of destination.
  • Escorted Minors will be accepted for unaccompanied transportation only if escorted by an extra cabin attendant, the cabin attendant ticket shall be paid by the minors' guardian according to the UM  class of service for the sector on which he/she is escorting the minor/child​.
    -The cabin attendant ticket shall be paid by the minors' guardian according to the UM  class of service for the sector on which he/she is escorting the minor/child.
  • -Unaccompanied minors shall not be seated on Emergency exit seats.​

Fare for unaccompanied:

The fare for Unaccompanied Minors will be 100% of the applicable adult fare; in addition to the applicable One Way full adult fare for the air hosts.

Minors over 6 and under 12 years old:

Unaccompanied minors over 6 and less than 12 years will be accepted for carriage provided:

  • An EGYPTAIR unaccompanied minor form must be completed and duly signed by guardian and/or parent(s).
  • An authorized guardian must deliver the child at the airport of departure.
  • Upon arrival, the parents/guardians mentioned in the unaccompanied minors form must meet the child at the airport of destination.
  • -Unaccompanied minors are not allowed to travel with a pet in the cabin
    -Unaccompanied minors shall not be seated on Emergency exit seats.

Fare for unaccompanied:

The fare for Unaccompanied Minors will be 100% of the applicable adult fare.

Young travellers over 12 and under 16 years old(YP):

  • Young customers  on his/her 12th birthday but under his/her 16th birthday will be accepted for unaccompanied travel and may be given unaccompanied minors treatment upon the request of their parents or guardians.
  • Extra service charge is applicable and must be collected at the sales office

Young travelers shall not be seated on Emergency exit seats.

  • For more details about “unaccompanied minor extra fees & charges” on connecting flights with other carriers please refer to the nearest EGYPTAIR office or travel agency.

General:

  • EGYPTAIR makes the final decision for accepting the unaccompanied minor / young travellers and EGYPTAIR has the right to refuse the carriage of them at any time, even after acceptance if the visible conditions of the escorting customers does not meet the escort travel requirements.
  • Children with Visual/hearing impaired (blind/deaf) unaccompanied minors are not accepted for unaccompanied travel.
  • Children travelling in different cabin class from their guardians must be booked as UM from 6 – 12 years or escorted minor from 2 – 6 years.   ​
  • Children may travel unaccompanied on most routes depending on their age and provided the child does not require additional care such as toileting, feeding or administering of medicine.
  • Above mentioned rules only apply on EGYPTAIR flights and in case of code share flights operated by other carriers please refer to our call center or to the nearest EGYPTAIR office.
  • We will advise you of a time to meet an EGYPTAIR ground staff representative, who will escort your child through customs and immigration to their departure gate.
  • After landing, your child will be attended by EGYPTAIR ground staff, who will assist with arrival procedures. They will then hand your child to the person nominated by you to meet them. This person must provide proof of identification.
  • For travel to and from the USA, we require the parent or guardian to be present when dropping off or collecting the child from the terminal.
  • If you have a connecting flight on a different airline please refer to their UM regulations.
  • When reserving, a declaration form is filled out by a parent/guardian to relieve EGYPTAIR from any liability or responsibility of guardianship and to provide the details for an escort on departure/ arrival.
  • Baggage identification tags, health certificates and passports of an unaccompanied minor can be held by an escort, or may be retained by the minor, preferably in a wallet provided at the departing airport.

Baggage:

  • Unaccompanied minors are entitled to the full adult baggage allowance applicable for their travel class.
  • Keep carry-on baggage to a minimum, and attach ID and contact information on or inside carry-on and checked baggage.

Inflight

During the flight cabin crew will regularly check that your child is comfortable and entertained and all staff will be aware of their requirements. Make sure your child knows of their travel plans and who is meeting them on arrival, also the importance of their passport and ticket. We will do our best to ensure that your child's experience is enjoyable.

Special Needs:

Explain flight procedures to your child: kids traveling alone should speak only to EGYPTAIR agents if they need help or have questions. And they should never leave the airport, the gate area or the aircraft unless accompanied by an EGYPTAIR representative wearing a badge. Be sure to let gate agents know if your child has any special needs. If there is a change to your child’s itinerary en route, an agent will contact you.

Check-in Requirements:

Arrive at the airport at least 90 minutes prior to departure time for domestic flights and two hours prior to international flights.

Note: You may not use web, mobile or self-service options to check-in an unaccompanied minor. ​​
